HVEM ER JEG: my name is Lauren and I live on Askøy outside Bergen.
I'm from California but I've been living in Norway (mostly Svalbard) for over 6 years. I read Norwegian no problem, I speak it as best I can, and one day hopefully I'll learn to write it...
BÆREERFARING: my oldest daughter is 5 years old, and we carried her often in a Baby Bjørn. When she was around 10 months I started searching (desperately) for an alternative so I could keep carrying her. I got a couple ring slings but didn't find the real babywearing love until I discovered mei tais when my second daughter was born. After that the ball just kept rolling and I've tried just about everything I could get my hands on. :) My third daughter was born this summer and I've been enjoying using all the different types of carriers with her from day 1.
*Mei tai: 3 years of experience at this point. My all-around favorite type of carrier. Experience with different ways of tying on back and front, with kids from newborn through 4 years old.
*Elastisk sjal: Also 3 years of experience with these. Carried both my second and third daughter in them (third daughter from day one).
*Vevd sjal: Started using these a little later when my second daughter was around one year old. Now I'm comfortable with many different trying methods (using many different length wraps) on front, back and hip. Used them with kids from newborn through 5 years old.
*Formsydd bæresele: Good experience with several brands. Used them with kids from newborn to 4 years old.
*Ringslynge og lommeslynge: 4 years of experience. First with padded ringsling and later unpadded. I carried my first daughter in a ring sling, mostly on my hip. I used a pouch often with my second daughter, with her both in an upright and laying down position. With my third daughter I'm using ring slings most often, she prefers upright positions. I therefore have experience positioning babies and toddlers in a variety of positions in slings and can help people find one that works best for them.
HVOR LANGT KAN JEG REISE/TILGJENGELIGHET: Meeting on Askøy is easiest for us. We're usually up for a trip into the city also. We like to meet at a cafe or something if that seems like a good plan for someone. But I always have my three daughters along so we always need a little extra time and patience for the antics of three happy kids :)
